Bautista in talks to play Kratos on Amazon's God of War
Dave Bautista, 57, is in negotiations with Amazon to star as Kratos in the live-action God of War series. The actor built his Hollywood profile playing Drax the Destroyer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy films and has since appeared in Dune, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Army of the Dead. He recently finished shooting Amazon's Highlander, in which he plays The Kurgan, giving him an existing relationship with the studio.
Battlefront Classic Collection failure reportedly costs Aspyr its Lucasfilm deal
Lucasfilm has reportedly ended its partnership with Aspyr, the Texan studio behind numerous Star Wars remasters. Insider The Star Wars Garrison claims the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection — which launched with missing features, server problems, and widespread bugs — along with earlier issues on the Knights of the Old Republic remake before it transferred to Saber drove the split. The partnership is said to have cost Lucasfilm nearly $40 million.
Ryan Hurst tears bicep on set, forcing Amazon to recast Kratos
The Sons of Anarchy actor, originally cast as Kratos, tore his bicep during a stunt and required surgery. His recovery is expected to take four to six months, a timeline Amazon chose not to wait out. Four episodes had already been shot when the injury happened, and one account says production will restart in October.
Casting calls target teenage Atreus and Thrud for a second season
Amazon has put out casting calls for actors aged 14 to 17 to play a teenage Atreus and Thor's daughter Thrud. One report names Callum Vinson as the current Atreus and Island Austin in the show, and says the recasting was planned from the start to bridge the time jump between God of War and God of War Ragnarök.
Sophie Turner injured on Amazon's Tomb Raider set
Ryan Hurst isn't the only actor hurt on an Amazon game-adaptation set this year. One account states Sophie Turner injured herself while shooting the Tomb Raider live-action series, though filming has since resumed.
Laufey game arrives in February
The God of War franchise continues this February with Laufey, a game centered on the titular character. The title runs parallel to the events of the 2018 installment.
